Four Things

Four Things by Sarahboparah

The last week has kind of been a whirlwind of things: of emotions, of stress, of trying to fit too many things into a twenty-four hour frame that doesn’t stretch quite the way I would want to, sometimes. Still, there are some things that have really brightened my mood, and I would love to share four of them with you today.

01 / Niall Horan – Too Much To Ask. The band One Direction kind of passed me by, featuring as, at most, a blurry presence in the background when they exploded all over the world. But this song from one of its former members, the Irish Niall Horan, was recommended to me by YouTube and I’ve really fallen in love with the slow, slightly melancholic tone of it, which has proven to be a perfect accompaniment to the increasingly cold weather.

02 / The H&M Home Magical Moments Christmas Collection. I’ve never paid much attention to the H&M Home collections, but when this e-mail popped up in my inbox, I couldn’t help but feel a frisson of excitement at all of the beautiful Christmas things. Winter has always been my favourite season, and I’m kind of eyeing this pillow, this one and, despite the fact that I’m not really a candle person, this cosy-sounding cinnamon spice one, as some new must-have home decor pieces.

03 / Yotam Ottolenghi’s Surprise Tartin. Every recipe I’ve made from Yotam Ottlenghi so far has, while sometimes a bit fussy, turned out very well, so I shouldn’t have been too surprised when this hearty tartin, which is made with potatoes, homemade oven-dried tomatoes and caramel (yes, caramel!), turned out to be so tasty, that it was gone within two days and proved to be, above all, the perfect autumnal main dish.

04 / Masterchef Australia. We came across an episode of season 9 of Masterchef Australia while sat idly flipping through the channels, and I can’t believe how much I missed watching it. It’s changed a lot since I last saw an episode, which must’ve been years ago, but I’m still hooked and I’ve already got my favourite candidate picked out!

I’d love to know – what is something that has really lifted your mood this week?
